What VA Benefits Are Available?

  • Burial: the benefits for burial allowances and American flags for caskets
  • Compensation: a tax-free benefit for their disabilities that arose during service, were worsened by service, or are deemed military-related
  • Education and training assistance: Get financial assistance for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and house allowance through the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Educational costs can also be covered by the Montgomery GI Bill-Active, the Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserve, and the Reserve Educational Assistance Plan
  • Health care: includes nursing home care, alcohol dependency treatment, and hospital services
  • Home loans: grants and benefits that include guaranteed loans, loan refinancing, and housing grants
  • Life insurance: Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance, Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance Traumatic Injury Protection, Veterans' Group Life Insurance, Service-Disabled Veteran's Insurance, and Veterans' Mortgage Life Insurance
  • Pension: a tax-free benefit for wartime veterans over 64 years of age with limited or no income. To qualify, veterans must also be disabled due to a non-service-related cause
  • VetSuccess: a program for those with service-connected disabilities to help them prepare for, achieve, and keep a suitable job

If you have served at least 90 days in the armed services, with at least one of those days was during any US wartime, and you are 65 years of age or older with little to no income, you and your family may be eligible for VA pension payments.
